HANGZHOU MODERN ART MUSEUM - HANGZHOU CHINA

The proposed design for this modern art museum in the suburb of Hangzhou attempts to create a mix of indoor and outdoor exhibit spaces to maximize its spatial flexibility. The homogenous canvas-like fins with reflecting pool serve as metaphorical backdrop to natural landscape while the interior portion of the exhibit forms 2 boxes positioned in relationship to surrounding contours. The design tries to explore the aesthetic connection between modern architectural expression and nature.
